Belgium has clearly been bitten by 'the box bug', a concept that I personally love.  Foodsterbox is the first high end culinary box in Belgium. Once you have subscribed, each month you will receive a box full of wonderful products delivered to your doorstep. Each month the Foodsterbox team comes up with a culinary theme - November was all about Autumn products and the forest - and then take you on a delicious journey.

All the products are truly a discovery for your tastebuds as these are local products from around Europe, very rarely would you find any of these hanging around your local supermarket, even the high end ones. This is one the things that sets this culinary box aside from all the other food boxes out there, the uniqueness and quality of the products.

- Don't know what to do with the products? Don't panic, you actually get with your box a series of recipes especially made for and with some/all of the ingredients of your Foodsterbox. the recipes are clear, yummy and most importantly straight forward and easy to make. All the other products can be found in your local supermarket, and the star of the dish is oen of your new products.

- Oh no you ran out of your product, now what? I hear through the grapevine that come 2013, Foodsterbox will also provide a market platform for all those refills you desire. And at a reasonable price too.

- So, do you get your money's worth? You sure do, not only do you receive six high end products worth more than . You also get the recipes and a little 'leaflet' of tips and tricks to help you. Did I mention, you also get a free box :)

- What is actually in the box of the month of November? One box (40gr) of Cèpes de Bordeaux, a Jus de Pommes-coing, confiture de châtaigne à la vanille, sardines à la truffes, noisettes grillées aux épices and 8x muffins moulds. You also get three recipes - muffins aux jus de pommes-coing, crumble de sardines ax sardines à la truffes et noisettes grillées and risotto aux cèpes séchées et jambon de parme. As well as an educational 'fiche' on mushrooms and the best wine for your seasonal meat.

Looking for recipes ideas, just want to drool over pictures of food and/or you simply want to show your support to this Belgian startup, then follow them on Facebook and Instagram, and why not even try out the box of December.

Thank you to the wonderful bf and to the whole of the Foodsterbox team for this culinary discovery.

The perfect cookies

the perfect cookies
the perfect cookies

Paris is well know for its delicious desserts, cakes, cookies, macarons and any other delicious patisseries they come up with. However, it is very hard to find the perfect cookies, you know the ones I am talking about - crispy on the outside, but very soft on the inside with some delicious yet original toppings. One day I came across a recipe in the latest issue of the french Be and thought I would give it a try, and boy were they exactly what I had in mind, and the best thing is that they didn't cost me €2.50/a cookie.

So I thought I would be a wonderful blogger and share this delightful and very easy recipe with you guys.

//Ingredients// 350g of Cannes sugar preferably brown (but white will do too) 250g of butter 1 egg 375g of flour 1 pinch of salt I coffee spoon of vanilla powder 1/2 packet of yeast Add what you want for the toppings - chocolate (white or milk), M&M, carambar I went for milk chocolate and caramel carambar.

1/ First pre-heat the oven to 140° 2/ Mix together the sugar and the butter, then add the egg. 3/ Do another preparation adding the flour, the vanilla powder, the salt and the yeast. Then slowly add the flower mix into the butter and sugar mix. Make sure it is all nicely mixed together. 4/ Then incorporate the 'toppings' of your choice. I decided to do both chocolate and Carambar (which is caramel sweets). I would met the Carambar first in the oven for 2min by unwrapping them and putting them on baking paper. In the meantime break up the chocolate into small pieces and incorporate the lot in the mix. 5/ start forming small balls of cookie doug with your hands, making sure that your topping are nicely covered up by dough. Display them evenly on the baking paper and press down slowly. 6/ Then pop the lot in the oven for exactly 16 minutes so that they are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

Enjoy! and happy sunday.

No one likes a good late breakfast/ brunch on a Sunday more than me. However, a good brunch place is hard to find in Brussels - even if they are starting to pop up slowly - unlike Paris where every restaurant in town seems to be doing brunch now. I can't wait to have my own place again and be able to enjoy large sunday brunches with friends and family. Here are a few ideas from around the web and much more here.

I thought this was the perfect opportunity for me to share with you some of the amazing places I have 'brunched' in Paris in the last couple of months. If you have any great places in Brussels that do a good brunch for when I go back please do let me know. In the meantime check out this list which has some pretty good looking places to check out in Brussels. I hope you had a great weekend!
