Given that my previous At Home in Brussels post was such a hit with you guys, I thought it was time for a second round. This time you are home with me in our new home in London. It is more about the little details that make this place our home. As you can imagine, our space was cut in half, especially my wardrobe space. So you will find my clothes in boxes around the house, thank god for zara boxes.

I have to say that I am really excited about the food shopping here in London. The selection and the diversity of products is pretty incredible. Hopefully I will be able to make some better overview shots of the apartment but in the meantime you can a feel for the place through our details.

I thought I would show you around my lovely neighbourhood - well virtually anyway. We were lucky enough to find a lovely apartment in Islington - London - and very close to both our jobs. One of our local bistro pubs is the well-known The Blacksmith & The Toffeemaker.

The place is great for a delicious and traditional meal with a twist, or for a couple of drinks with friends. Their food is definitely hearty and very tasty, and at a reasonable price too. Just around the corner from our place is Exmouth market which is essentially a lovely pedestrian street packet with restaurants, boulangeries and bars. Sweet serves some of the most delicious desserts. Their sticky pudding as well as their bread and butter pudding are simply to die for, then again so are their cheese cakes and cupcakes. Now that I come to think of it, it is quite a dangerous place to live round the corner from.

During the week there is the most diverse lunchtime food market - from bangladeshi lunch boxes to traditional french crepes and bagels. You name it they have it.

I thought I would share with you the good, the bad, and the overall confusing things I will need to get use to now that I live in London.

My biggest surprise was the "mind the gap" and "look right/left" notices on the floor. Although I just might have found them crazy in the start, I am now very happy they are there. Seriously the traffic never stops and the gaps are definitely ready to take anyone prisoner.  The rows upon rows of nearly identical houses are both charming and confusing. One can easily get lost is a see of similarity. But I do love how people play with colour to differentiate their house from their next door neighbour.

British food is an acquired taste but they do love their snacks and boy do I need to be careful when walking down the chocolate/sweets/biscuits and cake aisles. The nice thing about London - and yes I am still in the food department - is that brunches are never far away, and they are always a treat. It's nice to see the restaurants buzzing with people, and food.

Then there is Primark and Topshop which are a nice change amongst the Zaras and the H&Ms, but I am sure I will get tired of them soon. Then again, there is a new shop to discover  just around every corner. Finally, London's markets are just fantastic. Great for a bargain and unique pieces, or just to grab a quick bite to eat.
